About the practice
Built for the pain that did not stop when the injury healed.
Master Your Pain Pty Ltd is an Australian registered company working from north-east Melbourne, VIC 3095, with adults whose pain has become a long-term condition in its own right.
Why we exist
Most people arrive after everything else has been tried
The scans came back unremarkable, or they showed something that does not explain the last three years. The referrals ran out. Somewhere along the way the advice narrowed to rest, wait, and manage expectations.
That leaves a gap. Persistent pain is not the same problem as acute injury, and it does not respond to the same handling. It needs to be explained, measured over time, and worked with deliberately — which takes longer than a standard appointment allows.
This practice exists to do that unhurried part properly, and to hand you something you can keep running once the sessions end.
We work alongside your GP and treating clinicians — never instead of them.
Our approach
Self-management is a skill, not a polite way of saying you are on your own
The phrase gets used to end conversations. We use it to describe something specific: knowing what your pain responds to, having a plan you can execute on a bad day, and being able to adjust it without waiting for an appointment.
Explanation before exercise
Nobody pushes into discomfort they believe is causing damage — and they should not. So we start with what the pain actually is now, in language that holds up. When the mechanism makes sense, movement stops being a gamble and becomes a decision.
Measurement over impression
Memory of pain is unreliable and skews toward the worst week. Recording intensity, sleep, activity and flare triggers over time shows the trend, and the trend is what tells us whether a change is worth keeping.
Your goals, in your own units
Not a target score. A full night's sleep, a shift finished, the drive to Warrandyte, an hour in the garden without paying for it for three days. Goals stated that way can be tested, and progress toward them is obvious.
Designed to be handed over
A plan that only works while someone is supervising it has not finished. Everything is written down, in your words, so it can be picked up again after a setback or shared with the people treating you.
Who we work with
Adults whose pain has become the long-term problem
Long-standing back, neck and joint pain
Pain that has continued past the point where healing would normally be complete, with or without a clear finding on imaging.
Widespread and fluctuating pain
Pain that moves, changes character, or comes with fatigue and poor sleep — where the pattern is as important as the site.
Pain after a work or transport injury
People navigating a claim and a return to work in Victoria, who need a plan that is written clearly enough to be shared with everyone involved.
People who want to understand it
Anyone who has been given a diagnosis, or no diagnosis, and wants a straight explanation of what is happening and what can be influenced.
